Biography

Paul Merage was CEO and co-founder of Chef America, a privately-held manufacturer of frozen-food products, such as HOT POCKETS. The company was established in 1977, developed into a major manufacturer of branded frozen foods, and sold to Nestlé in 2002.

Prior to establishing Chef America, Mr. Merage had an extensive career in product management and strategic planning with major U.S. food manufacturers, such as General Foods/Kraft. He received a bachelors degree in economics and a master of business administration from the University of California, Berkeley.

Currently, Mr. Merage is chairman of the board and CEO of Silverpoint Investments, a private equity capital company, chairman of Falcon Investment Management involved in public equity investments and Stoneridge Capital Partners engaged in commercial real estate investments.

Mr. Merage is the founder and CEO of CHILDREN FIRST-A Merage Foundation involved in helping young Orange County children from underprivileged families succeed with the involvement of retirees in the community.  He is also the CEO of the Merage Foundation for the American Dream, and the Merage Foundation for U.S.-Israel Trade.  

At the University of California, Irvine, the business school bears his name and he is a member of the Paul Merage School of Business Dean’s Advisory Board. He is also chair of the Strategic Communications Committee for the University of California, Irvine Foundation. He serves on the boards of the Orange County Performing Arts Center and the Pacific Symphony.
